Secret Garden Storybook Cottage Retreat in the City
Tucked away behind a lush green hedge, this fully detached 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom cottage is a private sanctuary wrapped in gardens on all sides. Sitting gracefully on a double lot, the home offers a rare blend of warmth, character, and thoughtful updates that make it both timeless and modern.
Step inside and feel the glow of natural sunlight pouring through skylights and custom solid-wood double-pane windows. The living room, crowned with pine-clad ceilings, opens seamlessly into the farmhouse kitchen, where exposed shelving, tiled backsplash, and custom cabinetry create both function and beauty. From there, the home flows into a formal dining room overlooking the landscaped gardens—an ideal layout for both everyday living and entertaining.
Two remodeled spa-like bathrooms feature radiant floor heating, while one of the bedrooms easily flexes into a media room, library, or expanded living space. Downstairs, discover a large bonus office, generous storage and laundry, plus a huge garage or workshop for your creative or practical needs.
Outdoors, the magic continues: an automatic gated art driveway lined with rustic railroad ties provides parking for multiple cars, while just inside the gate, a cobblestone path winds through the garden, leading to the cottage. A charming pergola invites al fresco dining, and the lush gardens, mature greenery, and a greenhouse in the rear yard create a sense of country privacy in the heart of the city.
Additional highlights include heating and air conditioning, seismic improvements, and expansive views of Mount Diablo and the Bay.
You’ll love the location—just half a mile from BART, with easy freeway access, H-Mart grocery close by, and a variety of local dining and retail gems conveniently close.
More than a home, this is a hidden retreat—loved, meticulously cared for, and ready for its next chapter.

Neighborhood
Outer Mission is a small neighborhood on the southern edge of San Francisco. Its name is somewhat confusing as it is a bit removed from the more well-known Inner Mission District. That is not to say it lacks in distinction. Residences are primarily single family, typically with garage space at ground level and living space above. Public transportation is convenient here, with either nearby Balboa Park or Daly City BART stations in walking distance from most residences. Well-marked bike lanes are available on Alemany Boulevard. Nearby Cayuga Park and Playground includes a small baseball field and tennis courts as well as lots of quirky wood statues carved by the park's former gardener.
